| Demon Exterminator's Village
The demon exterminator's village (Taiji-ya no Sato) is the village in which Sango and Kohaku were born. The village was home to a clan of people who exterminate demons for a living. The Jewel of Four Souls formed in a cave near this village. Centuries later, the jewel was given to Kikyo by Shako of this village so she could keep it pure and protect it from demons. All the inhabitants of the village are killed by Naraku and his demons except for Sango, Kohaku, and Kirara.

| Mount Hakurei
Mount Hakurei was a mountain encased by an abnormally pure holy barrier so powerful it was able to completely eliminate any yōki (thereby killing pure-blooded yōkai) and even repel evil humans. The source of this barrier was the living mummy of a monk named Hakushin, recognized as a saint by the people he devoted his life to saving. He chose to become a living Buddha (buried alive by these same people) to protect them indefinitely.

| Miroku's Father's Grave
Located near Mushin's shrine, Miroku's father's grave is a typical gorintou (五輪塔), or five-tier grave. Each piece in the five-story grave corresponds to one of the five elements. The square bottom story corresponds to the earth ring. Next is the spherical water ring with the triangular ring of fire on top of that. Above that is a reclining half-moon representing the wind, and on top is the gem-shaped ring of space.
The bowl-shaped depression it sits in is anything but typical. The crater is the bottom half of the spherical void that happened when Miroku's father's Wind Tunnel grew large enough to engulf him. As shown in the flashback sequence Miroku would have died as well if Mushin hadn't stopped him from rushing to his father.
